Personal Biography

Gina Patel is an award-winning South Asian disabled advocate, self-taught emotional intelligence leader and recipient of the WeAreTheCity Rising Star for Diversity 2024 Award. Drawing on 16 years of lived experience as a proud South Asian disabled woman, she has transformed personal and professional challenges into a driving force for advocacy, leadership and meaningful change.

She is passionate about ensuring disabled people with complex disabilities, mental health conditions and long-term health conditions feel seen and heard. Gina uses her voice to challenge the status quo, break down barriers and champion equality, diversity and inclusion. Having spoken across local, regional, national and international media platforms and podcasts, she is committed to building a society where people are defined by who they are, not by the barriers they face.

Her determination to create lasting change extends beyond her own experiences, supporting and championing the wider disabled, South Asian and female communities.
